Just before Jesus ascended into heaven He told His Disciples in Mark 16:15 (NKJV) to “…Go into all the world and preach [proclaim, publish*] the gospel [good news*] to every creature…” This commandment still holds true today. As followers of Christ we are to proclaim the good news of His Sacrifice to all that will hear. Look at it this way, if you had a favorite restaurant or a good hair stylist wouldn’t you tell somebody; how much more the gift of salvation?

Believe me, I know it’s not always easy to talk to people about your faith. Most people have a bad perception of what being a Christian means and it’s hard to combat some of the things they may say, but that is where training comes in. Your church may have an Evangelism Ministry that provides training to make sharing your faith easy and simple. If not, I’m sure there is a church in your area that does provide this training and they would be happy to have you, with your Pastor’s permission of course. My church uses the Evangelism Explosion (EE) model in our Evangelism Ministry. EE uses a simple conversational outline to help you paint a picture for the person you are witnessing to. This training has made me much more comfortable when I speak to others about salvation.

This world is full of people in search of the thing that you and I have already found. We can no longer be satisfied with only praying, going to church, worshipping God and fellowshipping with each other. It is time for us to go out into the world and witness to the meek broken-hearted captives (Isaiah 61:1) and let them know that who “the Son sets …free [is] free indeed” (John 8:36)
