Transformation

Do you know how the butterfly becomes so beautiful?

As children we all learn that the caterpillar undergoes a remarkable transformation, called ‘metamorphosis,’ to become the beautiful butterfly that will emerge from the cocoon.

Transformation

This is what people try to make happen in their lives every year as the New Year comes into view. People are looking to become the best versions of themselves when the clock strikes midnight.

In January the winds of change were blowing all around us. The cliché phrase of “New Year, New You” was posted everywhere. Diet and exercise gear was front and center at every department store. Gym memberships are selling fast. The divorce rate is at an all-time high. Yet the one thing that is missed in the entire scenario is transformation.

Transformation is defined as a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance; a metamorphosis during the life cycle; the induced or spontaneous change from one thing into another.

Without the transformation of your mindset first, all the other things you are trying to do will fail. It doesn’t matter if its December 31st or March 1st, if you are going in to anything with the same old mindset.

You can achieve anything, but you have to set your mind to do it. No matter what you want to do it will take work. Some days you are going to want to give up, but if you have transformed your mind even in these moments you will keep going.

Don’t look at how hard this is. Don’t look at where you are in relation to other people. Don’t look at where you are starting from. Look at the fact that you started then keep moving every day.

Most people comment on the beauty of the butterfly, but don’t acknowledge the sacrifice of the caterpillar.
