It’s that time again! We will make a list of resolutions and maybe reach them by the time December returns. Well, 2025 will look just like 2024 if we don’t make intentional adjustments. Before making any resolutions, pray and seek God for clarity.
Take your time and answer these questions to plan what you must do in 2025. Don’t move on to the next set of questions until you are clear about the current ones. It is not a race. Stop looking at the clock, calendar, and other people. God is in control.
- Why did God send you to the Earth?
- What is the thing that keeps pulling at your heart?
- What is the thing that you do effortlessly that others can’t?
- What did God tell you to do that you have been too afraid to do?
- What did God ask you to do that you can’t do in your own strength?
Once you answer the questions above, assess what’s in your hand.
- What gift(s) did God give you to accomplish this assignment?
- What do you need to develop this gift(s)?
- What/Who must you limit or cut to achieve this assignment?
- Who/What must you immerse yourself in to accomplish this assignment?
Now that you have these answers. Create an action plan.
- Determine what you can do realistically in a year.
- What do you need to do each quarter to get to this goal?
- What must you do in a month to reach this goal?
- What do you need to do every week to get to this goal?
- What do you need to do every day to get to this goal?
Write it down! Create a visual reminder of your action plan (e.g., daily to-do list, calendar reminders, checklist).
Give your accountability partner a copy of your action plan. Set a time to meet and plan what you will discuss. Give your accountability partner permission to hold you to what you said you want to accomplish.
God’s word says we can do everything through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13 ESV). Find a Bible verse and a praise song that resonates with you and what you are trying to accomplish. When you feel discouraged, read that verse and listen to that song. With faith and a plan, we got this!
